Rhodes and Entergy Corporation Share Prestigious Corporate Pro Bono Award
Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR) received the national Corporate Pro Bono Partner Award in 2016 for its outstanding role in supporting the Self Help Resource Center — a New Orleans court help desk that Jonathan Rhodes created just a couple of years earlier. The center assists more than 5,000 low-income and vulnerable court litigants in the Greater New Orleans area each year, providing them with the legal guidance and resources they need to navigate the justice system.
The Corporate Pro Bono Partner Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions in the legal profession, honoring corporations whose attorneys demonstrate an exceptional commitment to pro bono service. Entergy's sustained support of the Self Help Resource Center exemplifies the kind of public-private partnership that makes meaningful access to justice possible.
A Program Built on a Simple but Powerful Idea
When Jonathan Rhodes founded the Self Help Resource Center, the goal was straightforward: no one navigating the court system should have to do so completely alone simply because they cannot afford an attorney. The center provides self-represented litigants with legal information, form assistance, and direct referrals — helping thousands of New Orleans-area residents each year who would otherwise face the court system without any support.
Entergy's legal team embraced that mission and became one of the program's most dedicated corporate partners, contributing volunteer attorney hours and resources that helped scale the center's reach and impact.
Accepting the Award in New York
Rhodes joined Entergy General Counsel Marcus Brown and the Entergy Pro Bono team in New York to accept the award at the national ceremony. The recognition brought together leaders from across the legal and corporate worlds to celebrate the transformative power of pro bono commitment.
